A new Metra-Market is in the planning stages.  The boundaries are between Canal and Clinton Streets with Lake Street to the North and Washington Street to the South.  This is only a couple of blocks from the 661 West Lake Street building.  This plan includes approximately 200,000 square feet of which 34,000 have been allocated as restaurant space and 92,000 as retail space.  The two major tenants for this project will be the French market operator, Bensidoun, and CVS Pharmacy.   The goal is to attract smaller retail stores and restaurants. *

Plans are also being developed for a two acre park in the area of 333 N. Des Plaines.  The park will have a playground area, a dog-friendly area, a shaded area to the north and a large open area in the center. *
